I'm able to sideload the apk into my Android TV but navigation is not smooth. Also I'm not able to seek the video once I play it or even download it to disk. Is it possible to add support for Android TV remote navigation?

@jmir1 what is important for firetv/androidtv is support for trackpad based navigation

Hi!

I plan to take a look at this and I was wondering if some work was already done related to this issue
@jmir1

Currently navigating in the app on my android tv (chromecast with google tv) is a pain so my first goal is to make sure this is working fine.

Thanks!

Upping this ticket. I have successfully sideloaded the APK and the UI blends well with the Android TV layout, sadly the remote navigation doesn't work really well.

Hoping for support for Android TV.

Yeah it's planned but we are currently in the process of rewrinting the player so I don't know when I will start development of this.

Nice, thanks for the quick response. Are you open to PRs? If so I might look into what's needed for TV support and help out.

Any news on this or just chromecast support in general? Would love to be able to watch on my TV instead of my phone.

I tried to use Aniyomi on an Android TV emulator the other day. It seems to me like the player needs the most changes:

  • The UI keeps fading out even when buttons are being pressed.
  • Navigation is a pain in general
  • Seeking is not possible (?)
  • I suppose some remotes have dedicated buttons for Play/Pause/Rew/Ffwd so there needs to be support for those.

Question for you or anyone that uses Android TV: What are some apps that have video players that are well optimised for Android TV?
I don't know any and I want to try out how they work so I can maybe implement some of their features in Aniyomi.

The TV version of saikou could also be used for reference perhaps https://github.com/Nanoc6/SaikouTV

I think you missed the point of making a request to add a feature here instead of asking recommendation of a app that have that feature

True but since people above were recommending apps. So I did it too!

oh yeah it was a oversight from my side, but still, I hope you will love the recommended app
