Recently, when I try to launch JoalDesktop on my Mac, a white window opens as if the app is starting... and then nothing happens. I've tried many things to try to solve the problem, but nothing works. It seems I'm not the only one experiencing this, according to my research.

Hello. I have exactly the same effect since 3 or 4 weeks. Perhaps from the previous macOS update but I not sure.

Bonjour...

Anyone found a workaround or a fix?

The reason for this blank window is a java process that wasnt properly closed by macos the last time you used it. (Dont worry it's a known issue.)
Pending its fix, the solution is to force quit it.

  • If you have an M-chip mac it's easy: just open activity monitor, sort the processes by kind, the intel ones will be the first on the list, and force quit the remaining java process.
  • Otherwise, type "java" in the search box and force quit it/the right one

@Scrupule
