Sharing profiles (Similar to Wootility) #1123
Comments
This sounds a lot like the plugin system that I'm going to be implementing(fully) for v0.7. Does having plugins that you can drop in to add extra layer types, device support and application support sound like what you're looking for? If it is, I'll close this issue as plugins have come up plenty in other issues. |
Kind of. Thinking more of a way for others to upload there keyboard profiles to an online storage system so other can download and share profiles. Not really sure how to explain it. But if this could be done from within the program then that would be great. |
@Wolfieeewolf In theory that would require a server that can automatically store profiles and retrieve them. Sounds very similar to what the Wootility has with sharing profiles using codes. This isn't really on the table for v0.6.*, but I'll consider it for v0.7.0 as I might be able to use the ModWorkshop server for this. |
That is pretty much what I would like added. That is a very awesome keyboard by the way. I'm not sure if there is a way to make it update the GitHub repository when people want to upload a profile. It would only be a very small file and once you get a few profiles uploaded I'm sure there would be more downloads then uploads. I'd say that goes against GitHub's rules somewhere I'm sure. Anyways, I know you probably don't want to charge people for using your program but perhaps a one off fee to help you maintain a server for uploads could be an idea too. |
There wouldn't be any way to do it with a GitHub repo, I wouldn't be charging people for a service like that, as I can't see why anyone would pay for a slight improvement of convenience. Like I said, I can use the ModWorkshop server, so maybe I'll use it for this |
What are you experiencing an issue with?
What kind of an issue is it?
Would like to see some kind of online database for sharing of lighting effects. Maybe you could add a save to github like feature that Aurora could hook in to and update on startup. Could have a the effects broken up in the category's IE away effects, Game profiles, Animation effects. This way everyone can contribute and make your program even more awesome then it is :)
