The thing I like most about Accismus is that its unique. One drawbacks is that its hard to pronounce. Personally, I don't think pronunciation is big problem, because its a one time cost.

The biggest problem is one that @mikewalch recently pointed out, its so close to Accumulo. Sentences like Accismus uses Accumulo are hard on the human mind.

@ericnewton has suggested the name Avalanche. I like this suggestion. I like the implication of scale. I don't like that its a very common word or that it has a connotation of disorder. Percolator continually imposes order on data at scale.

If you have suggestions for a name, leave a comment here.

+1 for Avalance. I tend to like the weather names (Storm, Avalanche) because they impose something larger than ourselves; something that that's capable of extreme power and scale.

Spent a few minutes with a thesaurus to see what I could find.

Blitz - fast and with great power
Flux - the rate of transfer of fluid, particles, or energy across a given surface. Also: a continuous flowing body
Metasis - a rapid transition, as from one subject to another. Also: a change in position or orbit of an elementary particle.
Niagara - anything taken as resembling Niagara Falls in force and relentlessness; avalanche
Landslide - the downward falling or sliding of a mass of soil, detritus, or rock on or from a steep slope
Spate - a sudden, almost overwhelming, outpouring

Looking around for latin words that mean percolate... Fluo. It's short, at least.

I like fluo

I like fluo. People are using it on the internet as short for fluorescent but that shouldn't be a problem.

Fluo is unique for sure. I like this as well.

Should we start renaming packages, docs, and repos soon?

Posting Mike's comment on here for completeness.

@mikewalch: Registering fluo.io was smart. However, I think we should sit on changing the name for a week or two to make sure it sticks. How about we set a deadline of Friday July 11th? If no better name has been proposed, let's change the name the week of July 14th.

Mike your plan SGTM. Its possible a better name may come along, but can't
wait forever.

Is everybody okay with the name Fluo? If so, I'll get the pull request together for the rename.

Give Keith a couple more days. He just got back from vacation. Maybe he
thought of something new while touring California. :-)

Yeah, still trying to catch up. I am in favor of switching to fluo now. Nothing better has come along.

I really like "Themis" as a name, but I believe that may already be taken. :-)

@cjnolet, are you working on the pull request for the name change? If you don't have time, I can pick it up.

Cool. I was just asking because this week is a good time to do it as we
don't have many outstanding branches.
