we do need a swift client but probably best to make it its own new project?

been looking for a reason to learn swift, I guess there is one now. It's probably quickest to start with a wrapper that just calls the objective-c stuff from swift, or even, just a version of the framework that can be called via swift.

After that I can move into a 100% swift implementaiton
