Appium 2 - Says UIAutomator2 installed. Then cant find it...?

Appium 2.0.0-beta.25

As part of instantiating and starting an Android emulator I check for and install UIAutomator2:-

./node_modules/.bin/appium driver list --installed | grep -q uiautomator2
if [[ $? == 1 ]]; then

echo "UIAutomator2 already installed"

Much of the time this works. However, quite regularly Appium decides it cannot find UIAutomator2 and bombs.
Looking at the logs when it says it cant find it is even weirder:-

Line 2022-03-18 04:40:39:588 says all is good and UIAutomator2 installed and nice.
Then line 2022-03-18 04:40:39:615 comes along and says it cant find it.

I've not been able to fathom out why. Does anyone have any ideas?

Having the same issue. As you could see below, it looks for appium-ui-automator2-driver folder in the "wrong" path:

Correct path:

It is happening to my after node upgrade to v17.8.0 and upgrade UIAutomator to v2.0.5.

Now it is fixed after installing UIAutomator v2.0.1 with:

$ appium driver install uiautomator2@2.0.1

@KazuCocoa, I've seen a problem here. It seems that, when you have one installed driver and try to install another one, it removes the previous one:
