I have the problem with installation version "ArangoDB3-3.6.1_win64.exe" on Windows 10 PRO x64 in Polish language version. I set the installation directory as (c:\ArangoDB\v3.6.1-comunity) but i tried too with default setings and get this same problem, and I set the password "pass20"
ArangoDB failed to initialize the database password

@CisSasGot Hi, can you please provide the arangod.conf file so we can see what exact path you used if this is still a problem? Thanks!

@CisSasGot I created a Hyper-V virtual machine, installed a Polish Windows 10 Home Build 1909 and tried to install ArangoDB v3.6.1 several times using the NSIS installer. This included using a normal user account instead of an administrator account, installing as service and for the current user only, installing to a path with special characters and spaces in it (C:\Users\gałąź\name with . and spaces\), and I even tried to install it twice two different locations without shutting down the first instance, but it always completed with success.

Can you please tell me what exact Windows edition and version you have, what installation options you used (the checkboxes but also the exact installation paths), your user name and whether you had ArangoDB installed before or something else running on port 8529?

Hi,
the arangod.conf is under the path you installed arangodb to, and then etc/arangodb3/arangod.conf
can you also add more details about the machine? is it all local filesystems? Is it in a Domain/AD installation with central profiles or such?
Can you post a list of the files inside the installation directory?

On Windows, I was experiencing this error using the installer, and it failed with the same error.

To get it working, I had to modify permissions under C:\ProgramData for the various ArangoDB folders to allow 1) CREATOR OWNER to have full permission and 2) my user account to have full permission. Administrators already had full permission. I was attempting to install for all users.

After I made the permissions changes, it worked like a champ.
