A tight integration with numtide/devshell (which seems to grow soonish out of alpha) would be very helpful.

  • Specifically, this request includes: interpreting a bare devshell.toml proxying through the devshell cli

  • Motivation: Remove that friction to devshell for vscode users

I briefly grabbed the devshell docs. Seems it's already possible to use devshell with this extension, such as a final command to apply an environment still nix-shell.
What would you want to see in nix-env-selector to make integration simpler?

Agreed, as long as the user connects devshell with the shell.nix file the plugin should work out of the box.

I plan to create a documentation site for the extension approach. We can describe this one use case there.
It will very helpful if you will share your experience here #46
