This isn't a bug. The KRuntime is only packed if you specify the runtime parameter.

This should be clarified or closed. Pass the --runtime parameter with the kre full name?

would be nice if --runtime with no-args packed up the current in-use runtime

This issue has conflated multiple things. The original bug is because there was an assumption in earlier versions of k pack that the runtime was always in the packages folder. Which would stop k pack from working at all.

This is not about the runtime being included in the pack output. I'm closing this as the original issue was resolved a while ago.
