[21:04:54] PNG fatal error: Read Error
Illegal instruction (core dumped)

TC got broken map image for whatever reason, and selecting TC in server browser caused crash.
P.s.
Can't find actual map image (it's updated already), but it was minimap from api.kag2d.com, and discord (vamist bot can post minimap images) was able to show top half of the map before deciding png is broken. Probably it got stuck in process of updating or something, so it might happen with vanilla too.

Interesting, I never got such a crash. If the png was corrupt there's probably not much I can do if the crash occurs within Irrlicht/libpng, and it only doesn't crash on vanilla by chance. Could you get some gdb backtrace next time it happens? There should be symbols in this build.
