It is pretty confusing when you have to install lyipc twice: once in your system python and again in klayout's salt manager.

I have so far gotten it to link to salt when installed with pip, so I think it might be time for pypi.

I do not really know how to do the reverse. The klayout macros for the package do autorun, but in the interpreted environment. They do not easily access system python.

This has been addressed by the lygadgets package. The recommended way to install is via the klayout package manager.

If via pypi, an additional command lygadget_link lyipc is needed
