With this component, Calendar accepts a locale prop and render accordingly, the same should apply to text input, which shows the selected date. It should recognize locale as well.

I need this functionality too @nomadus. I'm from Brazil, and I need to show dates in this format: 30/12/2019 instead of 12/30/2019, but I can't get this today. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I am not using grommet at this time and usually not allocating much time to maintain grommet-controls, however I will gladly merge a PR if you submit one to fix this issue..
