Atom slows to a crawl after using for awhile

After using Atom for a few hours on any given project it starts to slow down and ultimately becomes unresponsive. Looking at it in Activity Viewer shows 100+ percent usage for the Atom Renderer whenever I do anything in Atom, like moving one character to the right.

Closing and re-opening fixes the issue for a few hours.

Not seeing anything in Developer tools to indicate why this is happening.

@jonmagic can you confirm what version you have installed from the about menu, or are you building from master?
