Any info about SVG support would be nice. Couldn’t find comprehensive info about this yet.

Is there any support at all? I don’t think the cheat sheet needs to include file formats that simply don’t work anywhere.

Opera’s Erik Dahlström has a test page for SVG favicons. In my tests (all run on Mac OS X 10.9.4):

  • Safari Version 7.0.5 (9537.77.4): 🚫
  • Firefox 31.0: 🚫
  • Chrome Version 36.0.1985.125: 🚫
  • Opera Next 23.0.1522.58: 🚫

I think it is still worth discussing. Might be worth checking which specification Erik’s implementation is supposed to target in the first place.

I am also interested in learning more. A bunch of major sites recently added svg favicons for some reason. I don't know why. Twitter, Yahoo, Bing, etc.

Latest support from http://caniuse.com/#search=svg%20favicons

  • Firefox kind of but it only loads the first time
  • Safari and Safari IOS next release but if the svg is black and white

Firefox supports SVG favicons since september 2015 in the Developer Edition. The feature was integrated in Firefox from the version 45.
