Black Screen, unusable on Linux

Just a black screen when opening the app. Can't see anything. Has been like this for a few versions now.

Hi @octoxan, thanks again for reporting this, we're already aware of this from #2135 and other threads. I've wrote you a bit tedious but working workaround:

• first launch freezes up, and you need to force quit (pkill/xkill)
• second launch gives a crash report, and a restart option
• restart works (via restart button), i need to log in again and everything works

Can you please try if this helps you?

If not, we'd be curious what's hiding in the app console. You can turn it on by pressing alt and going to Help -> Troubleshooting -> Open Dev Tools menu. Or you can start the app from CLI with this command:

/path/to/avocode -- --dev-tools

We'd like to see the screenshots of whatever you can see in the log.

Thanks a lot for help, we hope to resolve this asap. The thing is that we're not really abyle to reproduce it on our machines, so we need as much help as you can give us 🙂 In the mean time you should be able to use our web app in Chrome/Chromium at app.avocode.com.

Some problem with Debian buster, desktop app 3.6.10. I can use app only after 3-4 restarts with blank screen.

I can confirm that changing the /etc/security/limits.conf file solves the problem for me.
I added this lines to my limits.conf:

*         hard    nofile      500000
*         soft    nofile      500000
root      hard    nofile      500000
root      soft    nofile      500000
