An application I use, Oracle, creates many GB of trace files in a hidden directory. When run as a Windows user that is not administrator, windirstat silently skips hidden directories. Please adjust windirstat to report that its results are incomplete in this case. Similar utilities, such as SpaceSniffer, warn the user regarding incomplete results, suggesting that the user use "run as administrator" if a complete result set is desired.

Original comment by Oliver (Bitbucket: assarbad, GitHub: assarbad):

WinDirStat does not skip hidden directories provided it can access them.

The idea, however, is a sound one.
