Hi team :). Wondering if other users thought Reports / Feeding Amounts would be more useful if it had the activities split in the same way that Reports / Pumping does.

Feeding Amounts is actually by type, but with the aim to exclusively breastfeed for 6+ months we haven't found by type useful, and may not for a while.

I know this is probably an annoying request to improve reports, but it would make the reports more uniform, and is hopefully something that can be duplicated into the/a feeding report without much work.

Feeding example.

Pumping example.
Pumping

Pumping appears to colour-code in order from midnight. This has been really helpful to see optimal times and frequency to pump.

Thanks :)

What version of Baby Buddy are you using? I don't recall when this was done but the Feeding Amounts report is broken out by type. Example from the demo --

Feeding Amounts graph

Is that the info you're looking for?

Hi cdubz :)

v2.4.0 lscr.io/linuxserver/babybuddy:latest
Yes, it's broken out by type. 💯

What I was suggesting is that the feeding report should be broken out by count instead of type - the same way the Pumping report is. 1st feed blue, 2nd feed red, 3rd feed green.

My reasoning is that the general recommendation is to exclusively breastfeed as long as possible if you are able to. So if you do this, the 'by type' for feeding report doesn't serve a purpose for as long as possible.

The same reasoning applies I guess for people that exclusively formula feed, or move from BF to Formula in one switch.

For example. My wife is attempting to EBF (exclusively breast feed) for 6 months.
So the report offers her a 24h total count only.

In ~6m she is likely to stop EBF and move to formula. So the report again gives her a 24h count only.
I assume there might be a week/month period where we do both, so by type would be useful then only.

Again - just a suggestion based on our usage. I should really move my DB and steal some of the impressive dashboards your users have made :). When time permits!

Ooooh I see. I didn't realize that was how the Pumping data was separated hah. That explains the lack of a legend. Hmmm. I think both UIs could be improved. Open to PRs. See also #828.

The pumping one made sense to me as soon as I questioned the colours. Then I just wanted it elsewhere :).

Reports are always hard because there are so many ways users would want to see data. You'd be making a new report daily.

Something my wife always adds up manually herself is her pumping vs feeding differential. Is she overproduces we freeze and buy her more days off at the end of her 6m goal.

  • report on frozen milk amounts stored
  • report on feeding and pumpin differential
  • report on .... 🤣
