Shields is a big community driven project that's benefited greatly from the stewardship and efforts from various folks over the years. It would be great to have a space within the Shields.io site that could be used to do things like recognize and celebrate those folks and their contributions, acknowledge alumni, etc.

It's import to acknowledge these folks and adding this to the Shields.io site would help make those contributions more visible and discoverable for Shields.io users

There's a contribution section on the community page. Do you want to replace that?
If yes can I start working on this or give me some more details on this?

Thanks for asking and volunteering!

It's been a while and I confess having lost all mental context associated with this one, however, I don't think it was our intent to have this be a mutually exclusive alternative to the OpenCollective contributors section. I think it was planned to be a new/separate location where we could do something additional and highlight a few individual instances/contributors.

That being said, 3+ years later, I'm not sure if we still have any content planned for this anyway so unsure if this is even still needed.

@chris48s @PyvesB thoughts?
