We had 3 periods today where we experienced slowness in Amazon's EBS volumes, causing an issue with rsyslog's logging channels, and consequently causing massive slowdowns on some of our API machines. We were alerted instantly and have reconfigured rsyslog to ensure this will not be a problem in the future.
