The U-boot configuration for RaspberryPi Zero and Zero WiFi differ in terms of serial console configuration which makes the latter hang the boot.

There is work upstream which unifies this support for a very similar case: RaspberryPi 3 and CM3. See http://u-boot.10912.n7.nabble.com/PATCH-v3-00-15-RPi-Properly-handle-dynamic-serial-configuration-td318851.html
