I have just upgraded to 18.04 LTS and had the following after doing the "usual checks" I had the following messages.
martin@Martin--X1-Carbon:~$ sudo apt list --upgradable -a
Listing... Done
nixnote2/bionic 2.0.2-2build1 amd64 [upgradable from: 2.0]
nixnote2/now 2.0 amd64 [installed,upgradable to: 2.0.2-2build1]

martin@Martin--X1-Carbon:~$ sudo apt upgrade
Reading package lists... Done

Calculating upgrade... Done
The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required:
libqt5qevercloud3
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove it.
The following packages have been kept back:
nixnote2
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

I read this as nixnote2 having a bionic version. So how do I upgrade to it?

Hi, by coincidence I also just installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.. and I can confirm, that the original install command for stable release still works:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install nixnote2

(Note: I did not do upgrade to 18.04, but just installed it from scratch (reformatted the disk with older Ubuntu version). So in your case some "apt" magic may be needed.. :) But the package is in 18.04 and works OK.)

You can also try the new beta v.2.1..
