emacs --daemon starts does not start the daemon.
it gets stuck after printing Prelude Tip,

I just did a update of all packages through package-list-packages(U).

The server can still be started using M-x server-start, and I can still open emacs normally using emacs command.

Then I uninstalled all the packages and started daemon again so that prelude installed all the packages from ground up.
Still the problem persists.

this is the out put:

$ emacs --daemon

Warning: due to a long standing Gtk+ bug
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85715
Emacs might crash when run in daemon mode and the X11 connection is unexpectedly lost.
Using an Emacs configured with --with-x-toolkit=lucid does not have this problem.

I can confirm this issue on xubuntu 13.04 w/ emacs 24.2.1. After attempting to start the emacs daemon with emacs --daemonize, my shell continually prints the message Back to top level. If I open another shell and attempt to connect to the daemon it fails. Furthermore, as was reported by @vigneshsarma, starting emacs regularly works.

After removing the prelude files from my ~/.emacs.d directory, I was able to start the emacs daemon on the command line without issue.

Edit: I reinstalled prelude with the intention of using git bisect to try to find if there was a commit that introduced the issue but doing so seems to have fixed the problem. Weird.

I can confirm this issue on Debian Jessie with Emacs 24.3.1 and current Prelude.

This is - like issue #319 - a zenburn issue, too. Disabling zenburn helps.

@1126 What does one need to do to disable it? Just remove it's entries from prelude-packages and prelude-ui?

I've pushed a fix for Zenburn; as soon as the MELPA packages are rebuilt the issue should go away.

@daenney I've comment out (load-theme 'zenburn t) in prelude-ui.el and loaded another theme instead in my personal settings.

@bbatsov Thank you!
