When collecting personal information for user research, the researchers must "de-idetify" the information so participant's information will not be connected to their identify.

Solution
Create a clear checklist of steps that researchers should do to de-identify information. This might include:

  • Creating coding structures / participant IDs
  • Blurring photos/images
  • Masking names in notes
  • Eliminating triangulating factors (mosaic effect)
