Are there plans to update this to the new SM 1.7+ syntax?

Hi TnTSCS,
what would you suggest, creating a branch for 1.7?

Edit: Since 1.7 is stable now, it would probably good to do a last release with the current code, and then switch to the new 1.7 syntax for new code and eventually rewrite some of the current code.

That sounds like a plan. I can assist some when we're ready.

The transition is done in the transitional_syntax branch.

There is a branch tracking the pre-1.7 syntax version.

I guess we could bring the transitional syntax into master.
