Why isn't this on Meetup?

'cause using Github for this is damn inconvenient. The Meetup app (and site, although I prefer the app) are great. I can RSVP, add it to my calendar, and see who else is going.

Ok, after seeing all the other beerjs repos, I'll back down a bit. This is a cool use of Github (but still a little inconvenient).

Yeah... it's sort of the way for BeerJS. I tried to address it here The SF group does a good job describing it, too.

Some BeerJS groups use both Github and Meetup- it's really up to the local people. Meetup costs about $70 every 6 months, while Github is free. That goes a little way towards a few beers. Most BeerJS groups don't have sponsorship, so it makes it a little easier not having expenses.

I'd more than happy to contribute to the cause. I have a paid meetup account for http://www.meetup.com/Albuquerque-Lean-Startup-Monthly/. Apparently, it can used for up to three meetups. I do like how beerjs is a bit hidden in github and self selects a more technical crowd, but meetup does have some convenient tools. Up to @orbiteleven.

FWIW, I'm moving to the area and plan to attend an upcoming meeting. I had no troubles finding the group.

I'm fine either way (personally I prefer GH for it but am open to whatever).

We don't seem to be missing that many folks by not being on Meetup.com; May's meeting had a great turnout. ATM I'm happy with the "GitHub filtering" that occurs by having it focused here.

Meetup.com also spams your email with notifications if you're signed up for anything, which is rather annoying.
