Issue

The Support beestat page does not provide a way to set up recurring Direct Giving when Patreon recurring support is active.

This appears to have changed with a recent commit:
Removed Stripe "Manage Support" button unless you have at least one stripe_event.

If this is intentional, I'd suggest putting an explanation in the Not a Supporter field under Direct Giving.

Test case

Steps

  1. Log in to a beestat account with a linked Patreon but no stripe_events
  2. Navigate to the Support beestat page
  3. Try to set up a recurring Direct Giving contribution

Expected

Some message explaining what needs done to enable Direct Giving (e.g. canceling and unlinking Patreon), or a way to enable recurring Direct Giving with Patreon still active.

Going with the former of an explanatory message would probably reduce potential support calls/refund requests - I'm not sure of anyone who'd want to have both recurring payments active at the same time.

(I don't plan to set up both at the same time, I just figured if/when I migrate to direct giving I'd start with Stripe before canceling Patreon.)

Actual

The Direct Giving box says Not a Supporter with no indication of what this means nor a way to become a direct recurring supporter.

Screenshots

Screenshot showing the "Direct Giving" section with a "Not a Supporter" message and no buttons to add a recurring subscription. The area where the buttons would be is highlighted in red.

With the current layout, it's a little cleaner to require you to cancel one subscription before starting another. That top section with the giving options is repurposed once you're a supporter so you have a way to access whatever benefits there are.

I've had a couple of other questions about how to switch, so I added some helper text to make it more clear what to do.

There's probably a cleaner way to do this whole page but I think this gets the job done for now. Thanks for the feedback!
