This project serves as a reference implementation for a NetCDF-CF convention which provides a mechanism to specify a geometry as the spatial representation of the indices of a dimension. The intended use case for this functionality is specifying a geometry for each instance in a timeSeries featureType discrete sampling geometry, which only supports a point representation for the instances on its own.
On this wiki you'll find some of the historical versions and correspondence related to development of the specification, as well as CDL examples of geometry using netCDF classic and netCDF enhanced models.
