USB-live freezes at boot screen, x86 #39

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Downloaded liveandroidv0.2usb.iso.001 & liveandroidv0.2usb.iso.002   
2. Run hjSplit to merge .iso to joint .iso file 
3. Use unetbootin to move to usbdrive
2. Reboot my pc with the usb in
3. grub process begins but freezes when logo apears

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected to see a bar informing me of the boot process 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.2v on windows XP Home SP2

Please provide any additional information below.
Processor   Intel x86 Centrino 599 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date   FUJITSU // Phoenix Technologies Ltd. Version 1.04, 
10/21/2004
RAM 1.25GB

Attempted to alter kernel arguements. 
"nomodeset" (this aided me when I used the Sugar on a stick live usb disk)
vga=ask (it changed the colors and size of the screen but no behavior 
changes)
mem=192
mem=200
mem=1024
Available keys (arrows, Enter, Escape, Menu, Alt + F1/ F7) are inaccessible 
(the laptop does still detect the caps locks key) and alt-ctrl-del

Flash drive = 4gb 
Adjusted persistence from 3.5gb, to 10mb to 0mb
