Index doesn’t work

In custom layout I can’t get to work start index. If I set a custom index, swiper always start at index 0. It’s something that I’m doing wrong or is there a fix? Thanks for you work.

I'm having this issue as well. It's stuck on 1 for me.

I don't know if it's the same problem, but in my case I think it has something to do with the fact that after each swipe, the widget I created keeps rebuilding itself. I still have no clue if it should really do this.
