I cannot find which of those pins to short for X and Y , obviously I do not want to use 'lock rotor detect' on E or Z so I do not want to short out those jumpers.

looking at the traces I can say I think Z is the very right hand side stepper driver and diag pin, so do not place jumper on this one, now I have to guess, is it the middle two? I think Y is middle right, so now which is X?

How is this board now so old yet the instructions are so bad? Please update them. If anyone knows which jumper are for which axis then please do post the answer.

Many Thanks

All pins on the board are labeled on the bottom silkscreen.

Looking down at the top (populated side) of the board, with the USB connector on the right, the stepper controller "blocks" are from left to right: E, X, Y, Z.
