end of it so I need to scroll all a way to the top

Confirmed.  Sorry about that--I had forgotten this, it's been a problem since I 
added HTML compatibility.

This bug is proving surprisingly difficult to squash.  As of 0.4.2, the first 
.txt file you open from the browser still 
jumps to the end.  Subsequent .txt files work OK.

This bug should be fixed in the current SVN.  It will be released in v. 0.5.2.  
Thanks to Chris Born for giving 
me the idea to fix it; .txt files are now wrapped in HTML coding and dropped 
into a HTML text view.
