For now it's just randomized, which sounds coarse but about right, but I should re-engineer stuff to run free and make it optional to reset instead of the other way around.

Thank you @paulcoops - this has been a design flaw for a long time.

Random is fine for now, but I won't close this issue as it is really quite essential.
