Background

The Bisq DAO is not easy to understand, especially as it relates to compensation.

Every so often, a particularly enthused individual will make a contribution outside explicit budget and priorities. It could be altruistic, or it could be funded/motivated by another entity.

Regardless, this contribution is notable in some way:

Compensating every such contribution is not realistic (and in many cases, not warranted). However, perhaps such contributions deserve some kind of acknowledgement. Working on Bisq, being issued BSQ, and then selling it for BTC can be a magical experience the first time.

Accordingly, this issue establishes a "hat-tip" contribution to give such individuals first-hand experience of being compensated by the DAO outside of the conventional budget and priorities convention.

Reasons

  • encourage enthused individuals to contribute to Bisq by giving them a taste of how the DAO works first-hand
  • show more people (beyond core contributors) how the DAO works first-hand
  • show appreciation to individuals who spent much time and effort studying and promoting Bisq
  • encourage testing creative growth endeavors that the DAO cannot justify / doesn't have resources to implement

Reward

Since this bounty is meant to acknowledge non-priority contributions, it must have an immaterial effect on BSQ supply. It's also meant to be a token of appreciation, not reasonable compensation.

The bounty amount is the BSQ equivalent of 50 USD. It may only be issued once per cycle at most. And a contributor can only claim it once.

Criteria:

Ideally, an individual interested in claiming this contribution makes a remarkable contribution that shows the individual made a serious effort to understand Bisq or some particular aspect of it. Refer to the examples linked above.

Perhaps this bounty is best thought of as an honorary degree. If you think you've done something remarkable that's deserving of this bounty, you can ask to claim this bounty here, but most candidates will probably be contacted by Bisq contributors proactively.

For example, none of the individuals any of the examples above asked for compensation from the Bisq DAO.

I like the initiative.
I prefer the amount to be offered in USD and then converted to BSQ as the process for compensation requests. 50 USD would be fine, to use round numbers.

Good point, changed.

I also added a stipulation: an individual can only be awarded the bounty once (no repeats).

I really like this idea. Helps encourage people to contribute without necessarily expecting compensation and it seems like someone's already made use of it!

Awesome!

For the record, this reward has been rewarded twice so far:

  1. Cycle 15 - elkimek's post on the Alza blog
  2. Cycle 17 - acrual's post on Rankia
