I think My Wallet is by far the best wallet for newbies (and not just newbies) - it should be included in the clients page.

FYI - I added it without testing it locally - I'm running on linux and the readme doesn't explain how to get it to work, and I thought the change is minor enough that it will just work out of the box. Just review the code & do a sanity test, I hope it will indeed just work.

NAK. The same reasoning would have had it previously promoting mybitcoin.

I think Bitcoin.org should not promote centralized services generally. More specifically it shouldn't promote a centralized service which is not licensed, insured, and (most importantly) independently audited.

On the one hand, there is merit to what you write.

On the other: It is a very different situation than mybitcoin, security wise.

However, I understand that the lack of hidden trojans (that send the unencrypted wallet password) can't be easily verified ... so perhaps it is best that, for now, bitcoin.org indeed does not officially promote them. A "MyBitcoin" incident involving bitcoin.org would have been devastating to its reputation.

It's a shame, because its usability is by far the best.
