I note that this issue is tagged "help wanted". Can I help in some way? |
It's still happening for me. Mid-2012 MacBook Pro, Catalina. |
Still happening on my macbook pro 2018 and macmini 2018 i7. |
This is still happening for me too. |

+1 (Edit) Also just noticed I can't manually change audio source via Control Center while eqMac is enabled. If I switch the app to disabled then the audio source changes and is ok when app is re-enabled. |

It seems to be an Intel-based problem, hm? |
It's not Intel based, I have the same problem on M1. +1 |
I also have the same problem on my M1 Pro 16-inch Macbook Pro with MacOS 12.2. |
I am also experiencing this now. 2019 Macbook Pro, Intel |
I'm also experiencing this same issue when unplugging and plugging in my monitor with speakers. 2020 Macbook Pro M1 |
Today is June 10, I see this issue is "closed", I have the latest beta v1.4.6, and this is not fixed. How could I help track the problem down? Maybe pasting here some of the console crash reports? I understand they are automatically send; are they not? |
How could you guys close this thread?! I change my macbook and the problem persist, is there any chance to get some help or answer here?!?!? |
Problem still persists, needs to be reopened as no change has occurred. |
Experiencing this same exact problem, please re-open this issue as it seems to be a common and recurring bug :) |
Also happening here. Emac 1.4.6, MacOS 13.0 Beta (22A5286j) but the problem was already there with my public release MacOS 12 Monterey on a 2020f MacBook Air M1, exactly the same. Eqmac ALWAYS freezes when starting up and freezes when switching devices with bluetooth. |
Sam here with Macbook Pro 2019 + Monterey |
Still Happening Macbook Pro 2016, MacOS Monterey 12.3.1. |
Likewise M1 MBA, eqmac works beautifully until it crashes, normally when unplugging from my monitor with speakers |
Probably it never get fixed? ... |
It is a pity because it is good software and design. I stopped using it. It crashes 10 out of 10 times when plugging and unplugging eg. AirPods or things like that. The problem s easy to reproduce. And I hear no response to so many comments about the same. |
The issue seems solved to me!... Is it the case for other people too? |

Describe the bug
Reported in #215 #134 #117 #110 #87 #44 #27
Sometimes when a new device is added or removed (like a Bluetooth device connecting to Mac) causes eqMac to fail to start the audio pipeline or crash all together. Mostly noticeable when switching on/off a Bluetooth headset or rebooting your Mac and having eqMac launch on startup.
A lot depends on how Apple is handling device logic, which differs from and to macOS version. But eqMac should find the best possible work around.
Steps to Reproduce
Expected behaviour
eqMac should handle device changes
