To make it easier to see which object you'll be interacting with before clicking, the hovered object should be highlighted in some way.

It works, but I kept it off by default since it seems mostly annoying to
me. This change can also be the basis of more helpful highlighting of
the hovered object (issue #1190).

While this issue is now closed, I've mentioned several possible improvements in the commit message:

  • Make it optional
  • Also highlight objects when they are hovered in the Objects view.
  • Highlight the hovered object also in the Objects view.
  • Highlight objects while doing rectangular select so you can immediately see which objects will get selected.

I'll try to get to some of these for the release.

Objects that are hovered in either the map view or the Objects view
are now highlighted in both views.

Expands on #1190

* Fixed synchronization of the hover highlight when the hovered object
  changes.

* Fixed position of hover highlight for objects in layers to which an
  offset is applied.

* Fixed removal of hover highlight when object labels are enabled for
  selected objects.

Issue #1190
