Just an FYI, I've packaged notekit with cLaTeXMath support for openSUSE (Tumbleweed & Leap 15.2), as AppImage & Arch (AUR).

• openSUSE: software.opensuse.org//download.html?project=home%3Asp1rit&package=notekit, (OBS Project). Please note that the version for Leap 15.1 is at commit af3eb0a without cLaTeXMath, and it wont receive any further updates due to outdated cmake for cLaTeXMath.
• AppImage (also built using openSUSE Infrastructure): Download, (OBS Project)
• AUR: notekit-clatexmath-git, because the existing buildfile (by atemu) didn't have cLaTeXMath support.

The AppImage should also solve #24

Also a few things that you should consider are:

• Provide a .desktop file upstream
• Provide an icon upstream (@thomaskole icon looks great, please include it officially)
• Maybe think about creating a Matrix (or irc) channel, for simple questions or packaging requests.

I could also provide my .desktop file that I used for the SuSE & AppImage build if you want.

If someone wants to make a PR for a .desktop file and whatever it takes to make it use @thomaskole's icon, I would be very thankful :) Unfortunately, I haven't been able to spend as much time on this project as I want to due to an abundance of real-life commitments.

I don't have Matrix (or IRC, anymore) and am somewhat reluctant to add more messaging apps to my must-use list. How usable is purple-matrix? (I know the libpurple IRC implementation is serviceable for talking, but I wouldn't want to moderate a channel in it.)

How usable is purple-matrix?

As I'm not using pigdin I don't have personal experience with purple-matrix but their Status has a lot of missing features
