User Preferences

In the User Preferences editor you can set the default look-and-feel of blender. All Blender defaults are described in detail in the editor section. The editor is accessible with the menu Edit > Preferences.

We have listed all settings that apply to the Video Sequence Editor or could be useful in the video editing task in table 1. If appropriate, we added a link to some additional info in the VSE docs.

Proxy Setup System > Video Sequencer Manual or automatic setup; More info <proxies>
Strip colors Themes > Video Sequencer Set color for strip bars
Color Picker Type Interface > Editors Choose between 5 types; More info <color_picker>
Keymap Keymap > Sequencer Lookup or change shortcut keys; More info <keymaps>
Fonts Directory File Paths > Data Directory where font-files are stored.
Add-ons Add-ons Enable & install add-ons. More info <add-ons>
Navigation Controls Interface > Editors show or hide gizmos.
Gizmo Size Viewport > Display To reduce the gizmo size.
Header Position Interface > Editors Headers (eg. menu) can be on top or bottom.
Factor Display Interface > Editors Use % instead of range 0 - 1.
Region Overlap Interface > Editors Does not seem to work in VSE?
Emulate Numpad Input > Keyboard If you don't have a numpad.
TimeCode Style Animation > Keyframes SMPT-timecode formatting; see More info <timeline>
Allow Negative Frames Animation > Timeline Normally you cannot scrub before frame 0.
Minimum Grid Spacing Animation > Keyframes Give more space for the timecodes
User Tooltips Interface > Tooltips
Annotations Editing > Annotations Default color and Eraser radius; More info <annotations>
Zoom to Mouse Position Navigation > Zoom Handy for zooming in on specific spot.
Spacebar Action Keymap > Preferences Pressing spacebar starts/stops playback
