I have a xiaomi router (China version) and I can say that blocking api.miwifi.com breaks the version checks. The router would not be able to check for software updates.

If you still insist on blocking it, consider blocking it in the router itself by the feature "Hostfile edit".

P.S. Do you have any proof that the domain is used for tracking? especially visited sites? Did you enable some function that resembles malware domain block or similar?
