Append to text field

More of a question than an issue as I'm not sure if it's by design but is it possible to append text to a text field when using the "Fields to update" or will it always overwrite the previous text entry?

I am trying to see if it's possible to use it with the Microsoft DevLabs Multivalue control linked to a text field.

Would like to also say I'm unable to do this but it would be incredibly useful. I'm building Power Platform releases, so we're unable to link the release to the work item, as we obviously don't code in a git repo. So updating the fields is our only way to have some form of tracking.
