Experience points aren't shown on UI

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start Nethack
2. Create a char

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Exp field remains empty.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Nethack-cocoa 0.3.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.3

The current workaround is to set the corresponding OPTIONS, e.g. in .nethackrc:

OPTIONS=time,showexp

Should probably hardwired independent of them.
