Description

Hi!

I'm new to Vorta and Borg, so this might very well be that I misunderstand something. But I think I've encountered a bug in how Vorta calculates the size of remote archives.

  1. I've a folder structure with 1.1 TB photos on a external harddrive.
  2. I've created to backups of it both to a second external drive and to a Storage Box on Hetzner.
  3. The local backup took a couple of hours to finish, and had a final size at 0.9 TB.
  4. The remote backup took a lot longer, and I had to cancel it a couple of times since I couldn't let it finish in one go. When Vorta eventually was done with it, I noticed that the size of the remote backup was only 0.1 TB. Strange!
  5. So I used the Recalculate button – and now the size came back as 0.7 MB.
  6. When using MacFUSE to mount the backup and using Finder to calculate the size of the mounted folder structure, it is 1.1 TB.
  7. So while it seems like all the files are actually there, Vorta for some reason doesn't get the size correct. Or am I doing something wrong?

What is the best way to confirm that my backup actually are complete?

The local backup:
CleanShot 2024-05-02 at 21 14 14@2x

The remote backup:
CleanShot 2024-05-02 at 21 14 00@2x

These are all the archives for each of the backups.

The source folder:
