When I type or copy Chinese characters (such as '我', '赞' and '怎么回事?'), nothing will be shown on the screen.

Works for me (boris master, php 5.6.11, libedit 3.1-20150325). What version of libedit you're using (presumably you're using libedit)? Seems like it has been fixed in 20130611.

See related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libedit/+bug/816758 and https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=579729
