IMS, Meteo-France: Apparent temperature is called "Wind chill" (regardless of whether or not it is a wind chill) #1129
Comments
Météo France doesn't provide apparent temperature, only wind chill. |
IMS and Méteo France are part of the same organization for weather in Europe. Based on that article, I wouldn't be surprised they use a tweaked formula that switch between wind chill and heat index depending on the conditions. If that's the case, they are provided unified, and there is no distinction between the two. The article doesn't mention apparent temperature. |
Is "apparent temperature" as reported by open meteo something different than wind chill and humidex? |
They call it "apparent temperature", so I believe it's the same formula as in #1085. But don't trust me, check the Open-Meteo source code for yourself. In either case, if they call it "apparent temperature", it should belong in the "apparent temperature" section. |
The Breezy Weather project highly values your report and would love to see it addressed. However, this issue has been left in “Needs more info” mode for the last 7 days and is being automatically marked as “Stale”. If you would like to continue with this issue, please provide any missing information or answer any open questions. If you could resolve the issue yourself meanwhile, please leave a note for future readers with the same problem and close the issue. |
Should this be transferred to a discussion? I don't see why it is stale or what more info is needed |
You reported it as a bug, but I don't see any bug, it is correctly reported as wind chill, which is what IMS and Météo-France sources claim it is. And I don't see any matter that would require continuing in a discussion. Please let us know what bug we may have missed, or close the issue if it's all good. |
Sounds like it's a source issue then; closing |
Steps to reproduce
Expected behavior
Apparent temperature should be called "Apparent", as in Open-Meteo (this is the neutral name as it doesn't depend on why the apparent and actual temperature differ)
Actual behavior
Apparent temperature is called "Wind chill" (even though there is obviously no wind chill in this example)
