Right now we open a new tab, which obscures the Firefox install verification doorhanger which is attached to another tab.

Need to figure out if there is an official first-run way, or something better.

I see your point. All add-ons which have a start page open it in a new tab, this is the preferred way, and would not make sense to me otherwise. Let's involve Dave Townsend (:Mossop) on this conversation and see his input.

No good options right now, see the group thread. Best option might be to try and clone the doorhanger and show it from our tab.
