Page template selection is forgotten after content is added to page

Edit a page's properties. Select a different template and hit save. The page is now in Draft mode. Now add content to the page. When the page reloads with the new content, the old template is used. If you edit the page properties again and select the different tempalte again, the page will load correctly with the content you added. Only once you publish the page with the different tempalte does this problem go away.

This is something I have seen quite a bit, but don't have a solution for yet. It's probably related to how the version history gets written.
