I am running cmplayer 0.8.4-1 installed from the AUR on ArchLinux x86_64. When I watch a video in fullscreen it will often flicker. This mainly seems to happen when I am moving the mouse, especially if I move it over the OSD. I will be more than willing to provide any additional information needed.

Which window manager/desktop environment are you using? I'm running cmplayer from the AUR with KDE, and I can't reproduce this issue.

Kwin/KDE. It seems that I may have solved this issue by switching the Qt graphics system from Native to Raster in System Settings->Desktop Effects->Advanced
I'll let you know if it comes back.

I have tried OpenGL compositing and native graphics but I couldn't reproduce the flickering.
The documentation says that especially for NVIDIA, raster compositing is recommended, and this is why I'm considering it as a driver issue.
FYI, here's the documentation: http://userbase.kde.org/Desktop_Effects_Performance#Qt_Graphics_System
If you think this is fixed by raster graphics, please close this issue.

I'm using very mediocre Intel drivers and suspect that you are right about it being a driver issue. However, when I put it back to native, the flicker is still gone. I'm not sure what exactly fixed this issue, but I'm glad it's gone.

I experienced this flickering as well with every third to fourth subtitle being showed. Recently, there were some updates on my arch linux box with intel hd2000 graphics running (including new versions of qt5 and intel-dri).
This seems to ease the problem.
Still, I can see with every third to fourth external text-subtitle presented the picture standing still for a glimpse of a moment and then dropping some part of the playback (<1sec I guess) to come back to normal playing. I seem no have no issues with play back without subtitles or the osd any more.
All this belongs to full screen play back.

@berndbb What is your window manager or desktop environment?

I observed this running lxde using openbox.
In between, there were some further qt5 and intel-driver-updates so I will check again the current status.
