What causes this message to appear? How do I prevent that from happening?

They are displayed by https://github.com/c9/c9.ide.terminal.monitor plugin.
The list of matchers is at https://github.com/c9/c9.ide.terminal.monitor/blob/master/message_matchers.js
For what text in terminal does it show this message?

I guess in my case the triggering text is 'Server listening at' which is sort of standard in express scaffolds. But I don't think the exact trigger that matched is important - the whole concept of watching terminal and making sure the user is using the right port is invalid on local c9 installs, as they do not use the same reverse proxy set-up that live c9.io uses, nor do they have the environment variables PORT and IP.
