Caddy does not report version #

While trying to debug another issue, I found I am unable to check Caddy's version:

$ caddy version
unknown
$ caddy --version
unknown

Don't know if this is intended behavior or not, but it seems quite unusual and the only documentation found is from caddy -h which suggests both of those should work.

I am running Caddy on Alpine 3.19.1 using the Alpine package.

That's a problem specifically with the Alpine package, not with Caddy itself. We've alerted the package maintainers of the problem, but they still haven't implemented a solution as far as I know. We don't really have good contact with them.
