How to Perform Namaz E Janaza Step by Step

Here are the steps to perform Namaz E Janaza:

  1. The imam and the congregation stand in rows facing the qibla, with the imam in front and the body behind him. If there are more than one body, they should be placed one behind the other, with the male closest to the imam, then the female, then the child.
  2. The imam raises his hands up to his ears and says "Allahu Akbar" (God is the Greatest), then folds his hands on his chest. The congregation follows him in doing so. This is the first takbir (saying Allahu Akbar).
  3. The imam recites silently the opening supplication (dua al-istiftah), such as "Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa tabarakasmuka wa ta'ala jadduka wa la ilaha ghayruka" (Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You, blessed is Your name and exalted is Your majesty, and there is no god besides You).
  4. The imam recites silently Surah Al-Fatiha (the opening chapter of the Quran), then says "Ameen" (Amen). The congregation follows him in doing so.
  5. The imam raises his hands up to his ears again and says "Allahu Akbar", then folds his hands on his chest. The congregation follows him in doing so. This is the second takbir.
  6. The imam recites silently a portion of salawat (blessings) on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), such as "Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala ali Muhammad kama sallayta 'ala Ibrahim wa 'ala ali Ibrahim innaka hamidun majid" (O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon his family as You have sent blessings upon Abraham and upon his family, indeed You are praiseworthy and glorious).
  7. The imam raises his hands up to his ears again and says "Allahu Akbar", then folds his hands on his chest. The congregation follows him in doing so. This is the third takbir.
  8.
